fyi

amazingly beautiful sunny 65 degree day + crooked fingers + lunch outside + amanda coming tomorrow = AN INCREDIBLE DAY!!!

i have crooked fingers after last night

so i was listening to matthew sweet on tuesday and was taken back to some great middle school days of hangin with my good friend pat. so i decided to give him a call and see what he was doing. and he asked what i was doing on wed evening because he was coming to cats cradle to see Crooked Fingers. and after hearing amanda's recommendation i decided to head to carrboro and hang with pat. lets just say i am now a fan of crooked fingers! they were great, the best part of the show was the encore, they came down into the crowd, on the floor, and played the encore from there, acoustically! sooooo great. and there instrumentation was great, the bass player played an upright bass at times, they had a trumpet, flute, piano, and guitars. seriously, check out the new record. its great. i cant wait for amanda to get here so we can share all these things together. i feel so incomplete here without her. AND...the most important news of the day.... AMANDA COMES TOMORROW!!! YES!!!

being truely human

so i am studying for our easter service at Sacred this weekend, and i am reading this book called Sacred Rhythms by christine sine and she has some wonderful thoughts on salvation and easter and healing that are soo resonating with me. here they come... from page 182, "...Easter brings the promise of eternal resurrection and the triumphant reminder that God's desire is for all to be healed and made whole." wholeness, healing, i think these are the promises this world needs... from page 189, "...healing is inseparable from salvation because salvation is the process whereby a person is restored to the wholeness of being truely human - a person who is whole in body, mind, soul, and spirit, living in right relationship with God as an individual, part of a community, and with God's good creation" wow!! what great thoughts on salvation!! salvation is a process of healing and being made whole, being truely human...this is the good news of the gospel, and i MUST proclaim it!! thoughts?

a beautiful day

so the weather was abosolutely fabulous today. seriously amazing. days like these draw me closer and closer to God. they make me want to rise up and praise with all i have. thank you Lord for this creation and marvelous day. church was great today as well. will from lobbyist played percussion this morning, man is he amazing or what. we were practicing before the gathering and his notes were the ACTUAL notes that he was playing. he is a real musician and he is soo great! i am so blessed here at sacred with wonderful musicians...seriously i am so thankful. and after another great gathering we headed over to mello mushroom for a worship team meeting and great calzones. it was great to have everyone come and hang the worship team meeting. i am excited to begin forming teams and getting to know everyone. what a blessing it was. God is soooo good. so good. and after mello we all headed to north cary park to play some volleyball and enjoy this great day! after 3 hours of volleyball, i am pretty sore, but it was very worth it to enjoy this great day and get some great exercise and hang with everyone. sunday is definately becoming my favorite day of the week!!

sunday am

i must say it has been so great being here at Sacred so far. this morning was great, it was the first time working with a team. i was excited to sing with melissa and play with terry, but i was bummed to find out that terry injured his hand and couldnt play guitar. hopefully he will get better soon. it was great to have someone else leading too, melissa did a great job...sometimes even i get sick of just hearing me sing and play! i am looking forward to developing a team here at sacred. i am loving being back here in nc and my new family. the only thing missing from this equation is amanda. soon and very soon. hope you are all enjoying a restful sunday, i know i am!

day 3 (rain...ehh...)

on day three, we new that a storm was coming, so we rose later and had a late breakfast. after that we cleaned up the house, and as we were finishing cleaning and getting ready to pack the storm came!! and it was gone in like 15 min...crazy, crazy winds. here are the photos from the day: about 10am... here comes the storm... after the storm passed, we headed back down to wilmington to finish our session we began in the morning, and enjoyed downtown one last time. all in all a great trip; we had a blast and got a lot done.

the second day

so the wind was blowing like mad the whole time we were there. so even though it was sunny, the wind still made it fairly cold. here is the sand on the beach looking more like the sand of the sahara desert. its so cool how the wind can make these designs in the sand: bold and beautiful north topsail beach: me and topsail: ken was the only one to brave the water...it was freezing!! chris and topsail: the staff: more photos from day two:

the first night

so after a long 2 hour session of planning, we decided to make our way outside on the deck and enjoy some of the finer things in life. well, there are 4 chairs on the deck, and one of them is kinda cracked. now, one would think that if it is almost broken, if i sit in it, it might just brake all the way. well, chris tested this theory. yep, it worked! and here he is in disgust throwing the chair overboard!! look closely in the dark for the chair... hehehehe.... what a great laugh on the first evening!

pictures from this week

so here comes the major photo update...i'll do them on a couple of posts so they arent so huge!! here we go!!! the first photo of the beach. we arrived around 5pm, so the sun was on its way down and providing cool light for the beautiful scene. this is looking south. and here is looking north, the first day. oh yeah, this is from our deck, so ya know!! here is the kitchen, ken and chris getting acclimated. and here is the dining room table were much thought and discussion took place. here is the living room, where much late night halo 2 took place!! those couches were amazing!! here is the first bedroom, it is upstairs, next to the tv room. bedroom #2. where me and ken slept. let me tell you, it was amazing falling to sleep and rising to the sound of the ocean. each night we slept with the porch door open, it was phenomenal. i love the beach! bedroom #3, two bunk beds. bedroom #4, the master bedroom, where chris slept. here is a shot of the 'front' of the house. make sure you check out the door that chris broke into!! this is the view from the road. and here is the 'back' of the house, yep, that is the deck that leads from the house directly to the sand. amazing. day 1.

wilmington update

so here we are in port city java, down town wilmington and just finished our 2nd session of planning. its been great so far, what an amazing house!!! its right on the beach, i'm talking water, sand, our deck, the house!! what a blessing. i think the highlight of the trip so far was watching my pastor, chris, break into the house b/c our keys didnt work. amazing. thank you stockton. i have my camera, but forgot to bring the dock, so a picture update will be coming soon. cant wait to see the pics of chris throwing the broken chair off the deck! hehehehe...
