being truely human

so i am studying for our easter service at Sacred this weekend, and i am reading this book called Sacred Rhythms by christine sine and she has some wonderful thoughts on salvation and easter and healing that are soo resonating with me. here they come... from page 182, "...Easter brings the promise of eternal resurrection and the triumphant reminder that God's desire is for all to be healed and made whole." wholeness, healing, i think these are the promises this world needs... from page 189, "...healing is inseparable from salvation because salvation is the process whereby a person is restored to the wholeness of being truely human - a person who is whole in body, mind, soul, and spirit, living in right relationship with God as an individual, part of a community, and with God's good creation" wow!! what great thoughts on salvation!! salvation is a process of healing and being made whole, being truely human...this is the good news of the gospel, and i MUST proclaim it!! thoughts?

And what is also so cool about that, is that you have to go through brokeness to have that salvation. Acknowledgement of sin and taking the step to break down 'walls' and let God have control only happens through someone who is broken. That is where it is so neat that salvation and Christ makes us whole again , but as 'different' being. Thanks for sharing those quotes. It helped me start my day...miss you, J. Sorry I haven't been on Live lately.

so funny... i had a conversation with my cousins over break - a rather philosophical and frustrating one - about whether or not it's possible to know God, where sin comes from, what the point of life was - and they just kept saying that their goal was to become their "true" selves (to be pure, good, whole, etc.). they don't think it's possible to please or displease God... anyway, i even last night had a conversation with my parents, and we talked about the fact that this whole relationship with Jesus thing has to be more than just a self-improvement thing. like, that's part of the picture, but not the whole... i dunno if i'm making sense... but yeah, i totally agree that healing and salvation cannot be separated, and that following Jesus is about so much more than just finding 'a better way to live'... isn't it? i don't even know what i think about all this... i'm still sorting it out in my mind...
anyway. hope you have an awesome day! i'll be praying as you work through your preparations for sunday!
