sacred space

so a while back my buddy Chris told me about this website that is a prayer site run by the irish jesuits that has like a daily prayer path. so i bookmarked it and visited it a couple of times. this morning i decided to check it out again and i suggest visiting it every once and a while. the site is called Sacred Space and it has helped breathe life into me, helped me slow down and encounter God. this morning the concluding prayer was this: "Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen." as i was praying this i was remined of how eternity isnt something that was go to. it begins now. when we become a new creation because of Jesus, eternity begins. we are forever a part of a world without end. i have also been reading rob's book and i love his insights of wanting to be people that bring heaven here - kingdom living. not being people who are bringing hell here. the question wasnt, how do i get into heaven? but how do i bring heaven here? God, may i be a follower who brings heaven here; one who brings your love, grace, compassion - to oppressed, marginalized, and hurting people. one who stands against injustice and all the people bringing hell to your world. use me Lord. here am i, use me.

the longest day of my life....

so here is the newest news for us... we left this morning at 10.30am and at 6.30pm we had only gone 25 miles. yep - 8 hours in the car, 100 degrees outside, no A/C to conserve gas and only 25 miles. unfreakinbelievable. so because of all the unkowns with gas availability and how much longer it would take to get to the 10, etc. etc. we turned around and came home. so amanda and i are back at our apt tonight and are headed to hang with our friends Radkey and Christine (who are staying here) tomorrow morning. they are in the northwest corner of houston area. if you have been watchin the news, it looks like rita is moving more to the east, so now we are in the 'clean' part of the storm. good news. we are safe and will continue to keep you all updated as we can. thanks for all of your prayers for us and our neighbors!

the latest plans

welp, there she is...as of about 6pm on wed evening...headed right for us! so needless to say, church has been cancelled and we are packing up and heading out of town. my dad has a business partner named Xavier, who we are going to stay with in San Antonio. i think traffic will be a little crazy tonight, so we will head out around 5am tomorrow morning. please pray for us and all the others in our area, esp galveston and matagorda - looks like they could get the worst of it. we will keep you updated as it develops - know that we are safe and all is well with us!

rita

is coming our way....we are still trying to figure out what we are doing....we havent gotten the final answer from church yet, i will know more around 2pm here. thinking about leaving town though, we shall see - keep us in your thoughts!
